Post Cosey Complex

It's taken me 2 days to come down from the euphoria of Cosey Complex. Well that and sleeping after the intense day of events then Cosey Club evening that went into the wee hours of Sunday.
I do feel so privileged that so many creatively gifted and wonderful people took part in Cosey Complex. The days events were outstanding for so many reasons, not least for the opportunity to
hear and see such diverse inspired and inspiring works in an atmosphere free of pretension and loaded with the spirit of generosity. The day and evening were truly 'cosey as methodology' in action. My heart felt thanks to everyone involved - Maria Fusco, Richard Birkett, Martin Bax, Clunie Reid, Graham Duff, Anthony Elms, John Duncan, Daniela Cascella, Chris Kraus, Corin Sworn, Diedrich Diedrierichsen, Gerard Byrne, Rob Stone and Zak Kyes for the excellent Reader. Cosey Club was awesome so thank you Richard Clouston, Caoimhe, Jon, Andrew Weatherall, Fixmer McCarthy, Factory Floor and Eve Black Eve White. I was blown away by it all.

So here's some pics for everyone.

Power of healing...

Thanks for all the positive wishes re my fall. I'm amazed and glad to say that all is healing much faster than I had expected - going by my previous experiences. I can hobble around now and my hand is more 'usable' - I'll be typing with both hands in a coupla days :-). Talking of time marching on .... soon I'll be starting work on my sounds for the new TG piece for Cerith's film. Till then I need to update my web site work on up and coming art/music projects. More about those later. Oh, and I'm Twittering.

Back in the zone...

I finally feel good and on UK time again. What a difference a week makes. But then I had a fall onto concrete in the garden on Monday and I don't bounce like I used to so I'm resting my sprained wrist and ankle and have an ugly gash on my elbow.
But not boo hooing, just being good so I can get back to normal asap.... like swimming, yoga, playing guitar etc. I bought a new RED cornet because my new black one got dented by careless 'helpers' on the US trip. My red one will travel in its ABS case this time.

ciao for now all,

Somewhere between here and there...

Phew! What a weird 4 days it's been since I got home. The jet lag, fatigue, TG head cold and euphoria combined to put me in another space for a while - between sleep and consciousness. I'm gradually coming round and assimilating the magnitude of the experiences I had in the US. The shows and audiences were overwhelmingly wonderful. Meeting so many great people on top of all that kind of threw me into overload with a huge grin on my face and a glow within. What more could I ask for? I know I've thanked everyone before but I feel I need to again. THANK YOU for your warmth, enthusiasm and being up for it.

I also met a lot of people I'd corresponded with for many years and myspace friends too. So that leap from virtual into reality was special. BIG love to you all especially Skot, Jim, B & T, Monte, Sasha, Ian, Todd, Chris, Matt, Josh, Ms Xena, Andrew and all.

Lots to do now I'm back but all that can wait till I've rested some more.

Moochy Monday,

NY then UK...

Thank you everyone for all the positive loving thoughts for me. I'm lying in bed in New York hotel now - seems a common theme going on here :-)

Really looking forward to the show tonight. It will be weird that it's the last one of the US tour so I'll no doubt let rip!

See you at the show those who will be there and HUGE thank you to everyone who came to the other shows. It's been an amazing time.

Exhaustion

Woah, after the extreme energy 2 shows and signing yesterday and meeting everyone I was utterly exhausted and felt ill. It was all I could do to get into bed. Felt very weird indeed so I'm staying in bed until sound check call today.
There's another 2 shows and signing so I'll pace myself.

Breakfast calls.

Thanks to everyone who has come along so far and made the evenings complete.

San Francisco tomorrow night - can't wait.

Important TG news!

The venue for the TG CHICAGO shows has been changed due to parishioners concerns about TG playing at their church.

Chris is updating the TG site as I type so check it out for full details.
Our apologies to all you TG people. Spread the word!

Here we come!

OK I'm primed and preened and slathered myself in cocoa butter. Tomorrow I'll be in New York at the start of the TG USA tour. Tizzy cat is a little suspicious that the house sitter (and her cat sitter) is in residence - they don't get on too well :-/
Excited to be seeing everyone again - or for the first time after many years of correspondence. Monte, B&T, Skot and Jim, Chris Connelly, Todd, Richard and Bob, Sasha and her beau Ian, Robert, Miss Xena Geo, Gristleizer squad and all see you very soon!!!

kiss kiss bang bang.

My Gristleizer Has Departed

The only (and as far as we know the last) surviving original Gristleizer died last week, it was my own model from 1977. Chris and I were about to start running some test on it for Charles Howes, who is designing and making the new Gristleizer reproductions, when it spluttered and stopped working. No amount of coaxing, encouragement or new batteries would revive it. Pretty good going for a 32 year old hand-made unit but sad nevertheless...

Condolences and/or comments for my departed Gristleizer can be left here:

Never ending...

It's been such an intense year that when I look back at what has gone on I realise I've unwittingly been thinking half the events took place last year. I must admit that the lists of deadlines seemed to be never ending as one got fulfilled to be replaced by another yet I have been happily feeding off the activities with great enthusiasm and excitement. It's always been the case that from such maelstroms come many creative satellites and meetings with old and new wonderful people. Of course the price is stress and exhaustion and I think (despite some health hiccups along the way) I've managed to ward off anything really untoward. I guess you learn damage limitation skills - well you have to - and I don't see the point of doing this if it's not positive and fun. What has been uplifting is the experience of the very new and inspiring. After all my years as an artist in these past few years I have seen and heard new works that blow me away - I can't tell you how awesome that feels.Working on the John Cage remix was a true joy then our weekend was blessed with a visit from Richard (Chartier) and Bob. Now I'm looking forward to Terry (Millimetre) arriving this week to work on some tracks with us and then I'm off to Rome with Chris for my talk at the British School at Rome. After that I'm gearing up (or is it down) to devote the whole of December to relaxing.... which includes the new art projects I'm working on so they will see the light of day next year. Life is rich and beautiful.Cosey xxxx

This year has zoomed past...

This year has zoomed past in a blur and I can't believe it's nearly September. I don't know why my life is full of frustration at not having enough time to do everything I want, but then I do prefer having more than less time on all levels. The Carter Tutti and TG shows earlier this year overlapped which meant having to be in two different mind sets - that was weird at times.

But I've got to the point that so much has happened I can't begin to remember exactly what. Whether that's a good thing or not I have no idea, so I'll settle for what I can drag from the back of my mind when needs be.

This summer has been the first in about 5 years that I've managed to stay at home for an extended period and that's been wonderful. Although I had projects to finish with Chris and for TG none of that demanded my having to be away so I got time to sit in the garden and enjoy the company of our resident birds, bees, hedgehogs and other creatures great & small. Simple pleasures after such a busy 6 months.

Our Feral Vapours film has been held up again because of all the other unexpected events and interesting projects that demanded our attention but we're determined to immerse ourselves again next month when we return to filming once more. That's what's exciting me most at the moment. It will be released in its own good time.

I've been thrilled at the great reception of COH PLAYS COSEY and I'll be beginning work on the sister album COSEY PLAYS COH later this year.

The TG & Cerith Wyn Evans audio sculpture collaboration: 'A=p=p=a=r=i=t=i=o=n' is now complete and has far exceeded all our expectations. It's being shipped to Japan for the Yokohama 2008 Triennale which opens on 13th September. It's very difficult to explain the wonderful experience so here's a little info:

It seems like September is time when things kick off again as then I'm back in the studio recording with Chris, doing a remix for Excepter and then working on contributing some vocals for our friend Terry's new album. Then I'll also be returning to working on my new Art edition of photographic sets of prints. I'm sure I've forgotten something along the way but suffice to say there's much fun ahead!

Signing off till later,

Almost back from the abyss...

My very best to everyone who has visited here. As many will know by now, since my last posting I've spent the best part of December and this year ill which has set me back with many projects. Many thanks to all who have posted comments, sent cards, flowers, messages and emails wishing me well. They really did cheer me up. Now I'm slowly getting back to full health when I can begin working in earnest on my new photographic art works. I'll also be working on preparations for the Carter Tutti European concerts this year. When the concerts are confirmed I'll post them here and subscribers to our newsletter will receive info. Pre production on the Feral Vapours film is under way and we'll be working on it throughout the year between other projects. Hoping to release it in the autumn/winter period.

I'm also very happy to announce that the COH PLAYS COSEY collaboration album was released March 6th on Raster Noton label (Raster Noton website) and later this year I hope to begin work on the sister album COSEY PLAYS COH. There are some TG gigs in the pipeline (Throbbing Gristle myspace and Throbbing Gristle web site). So with these amongst other interesting events and opportunities that arise, 2008 is pretty much spoken for and I'm reeling with anticipation.

So I'm back in mind and spirit but the body energies have still to catch up :-).

Calm and sunshine...

Well I finally feel like I've re connected with my self after all the flurry of TG activities.
The intensity of creative flow and physical demands have been a real challenge but I must say that Sleazy's stay here in our home was an utter pleasure. Things cranked up several notches the few weeks prior to the Tate when the TG machine seemed to have a life of its own driving us forward with relentless momentum. Hence the exhilarating feelings I felt for the Tate and ICA events which were already so much a part of me. Presenting our work to the welcoming arms of those who attended felt so right. So I must thank you all for embracing all that we brought to you.

I'm catching up on my solo and Carter Tutti projects - now starting with a 7" cover version, preparing for another exhibition, continuing my project with COH and generally mooching around wandering into the garden to pick those ripening juicy strawberries.

Happy and calm.............

Exciting and enthralling...

We've had a really intense month of recording to finish our new CARTER TUTTI album (Feral Vapours Of the Silver Ether) which has been inspiring, exciting and enthralling. It's felt wonderful to be at full creative thrust totally immersed in our own material. Just the final mastering and tweaks now!

I'm off to Los Angeles tomorrow to install my work in the MOCA exhibition WACK! and to stay with friends relaxing and enjoying their warmth and treasured company.

Infused...

The last few months have been so infused with the core that is myself that I feel at home once again. Working on the new (Carter Tutti) album has been an utter delight and all the blessed coincidences signal that all is well and true.
So as projects from earlier in the year subside and I begin new collaborations with wonderful inspiring people I'm feeling invigorated and excited. It's great to look ahead and see thrills and new challenges. So, I'm feeling very good and wondering what else I could possibly add to this diary entry when that is more than enough for anyone.

Collecting my thoughts...

I have that stunned feeling now I've momentarily ceased. Or should I be saying I have seized time to collect my thoughts? Either way I have had to extract myself from the eye of the storm of activities. We have had such an intense time with many wonderful energies of friends and family sharing our home relaxing and working. The house is charged in the most positive and vibrant way.
Alas all plans to begin a new CARTER TUTTI album have been thwarted due to work on TG projects taking longer than expected and now with the Berlin TG concerts in December it looks like we won't begin full on new work until February 2006.

I completed 'Licking the Juice', a solo track for the Chicks on Speed compilation 'Girl Monster' which is due for release in February 2006. In between finishing the new TG album, I've been organising the materials for the TG Berlin exhibition ('Industrial Annual Report') and also working on my own Art projects for up coming exhibitions at Triennial at Tate Britain next March and Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles in March 2007. More details on all these events will be put up on my site and sent to those on our email subscriber list.
I was thrilled to be awarded the Trace John Boehme Lifetime Achievement Award for Past and Continuing Performance Art by Trace Gallery, Cardiff. Nice to be recognised for previous and present deeds.
Thanking you people so much!

Time escapes me...

It’s been so long since I posted news on what’s been happening but time escaped me as I rushed from project to project and then caught up on sleep. The events of the past year have really challenged me in many ways and I’m thankful. Geff’s empty space still flickers with a peaceful energy. Life continues to deliver surprises and makes me feel that as I grow I begin to question more, rather than less. Knowledge and experience seem to create a need for more of the same which is both a joy and a curse. Life is sweet and I feel like I could burst with the utter ecstacy of it at times.
January and February were taken up with preparations for our CARTER TUTTI concert for M.O.C.A in Los Angeles. The concert was wonderful, so many thanks to everyone who was present and shared such a special time with us. I’m excitedly working on a show for the Van Abbe Museum, Eindhoven which will open on May 7th. Collating all the material is intense but I’m relishing it.

After this I’ll be presenting (for one night only) ‘Selflessness 2’ at TRACE Gallery in Cardiff which will be the first time any of these series of art actions has been seen.

I’m rubbing my hands with glee at the thought of beginning a new CARTER TUTTI album in the summer. More diary news after this I suspect. But don’t hold me to it.

All details on projects mentioned can be found on the news page.
