Post Cosey Complex

It's taken me 2 days to come down from the euphoria of Cosey Complex. Well that and sleeping after the intense day of events then Cosey Club evening that went into the wee hours of Sunday.
I do feel so privileged that so many creatively gifted and wonderful people took part in Cosey Complex. The days events were outstanding for so many reasons, not least for the opportunity to
hear and see such diverse inspired and inspiring works in an atmosphere free of pretension and loaded with the spirit of generosity. The day and evening were truly 'cosey as methodology' in action. My heart felt thanks to everyone involved - Maria Fusco, Richard Birkett, Martin Bax, Clunie Reid, Graham Duff, Anthony Elms, John Duncan, Daniela Cascella, Chris Kraus, Corin Sworn, Diedrich Diedrierichsen, Gerard Byrne, Rob Stone and Zak Kyes for the excellent Reader. Cosey Club was awesome so thank you Richard Clouston, Caoimhe, Jon, Andrew Weatherall, Fixmer McCarthy, Factory Floor and Eve Black Eve White. I was blown away by it all.

So here's some pics for everyone.

Oscillating between many pleasures...

Phew! - two days after the Tate Symposium and I'm feeling that my time allows for some small pleasures now after all the juggling around of project deadlines. The symposium talk I had with Catherine went very well and we addressed some interesting issues, partly in response to the previous talks - particularly by the head of art business studies at Sotheby's. One of the best things about 'in conversations' is that they tend to steer into unexpected territories which is always a bonus for me. The 'Pop Life' show demands deep engagement by those who go see it and especially art critics. Some of the works highlight a fundamental aspect of art since the 70s, the purpose of its production and the cynical marketing of it. The differing approaches of the artists make for a great starting point for discussion that many have chosen to ignore - opting for the obvious outrage.....now where have I seen that before?

Autumn is one of my favourite seasons so I'm basking in the riot of colour leaf fall brings and enjoying nesting for the cold winter months ahead - hot crumpets, good films and RECORDING again!!! Hooray! I've been away far too long.

Summer recedes

So the summer is finally receding and autumnal activities are descending upon me. I'll be installing my work for the Tate exhibition 'Pop Life' in 2 weeks time then going for the PV with friends. I'm really looking forward to the show - there's some great work and I'm in very good company. I may also be doing an on conversation in October as part of the symposium for the exhibition - I'll let you know when and where as things are finalised.

I'm also in two books that are published in the following months: 'Post Porn Politics' in which I talk with Annie Sprinkle and Beth Stephens, and 'Stanley Picker Gallery Public Lectures on Art. 1: Cosey Fanni Tutti in conversation with Andrew Wheatley' - a transcript of the talk along with photographs of works discussed.

As it gets cold outside I'm longing to get back to recording in the studio. I'm itching to get cracking. There's three sound projects in progress and all so very different to each other not to mention GRISTLEISM of course.... which is on schedule and looking grrrreat.

I'll keep you posted more often now things have calmed down.

On a high...

It's been nigh on 6 weeks since I got back from the TG USA shows and I'm feeling pretty damn good and energised again. Lots has been happening in other areas of my work/life which has taken me away from the TG zone. Mainly in the art world with my inclusion in the forthcoming Tate Modern exhibition 'Pop Life' which opens October 1st. I'm thrilled to be in the company of some wonderful works. Also this summer I'll be finishing my new work 'The Szabo Sessions' and continuing to hammer out other budding art projects.

A number of music projects are coming together now which will take up all my time for the rest of this year with plans for live shows in 2010. It's all VERY exciting and fulfilling especially working with new people.

For now, I'm back in the studio working on the upcoming TG shows.
More as I get time to update you all.

This year has zoomed past...

This year has zoomed past in a blur and I can't believe it's nearly September. I don't know why my life is full of frustration at not having enough time to do everything I want, but then I do prefer having more than less time on all levels. The Carter Tutti and TG shows earlier this year overlapped which meant having to be in two different mind sets - that was weird at times.

But I've got to the point that so much has happened I can't begin to remember exactly what. Whether that's a good thing or not I have no idea, so I'll settle for what I can drag from the back of my mind when needs be.

This summer has been the first in about 5 years that I've managed to stay at home for an extended period and that's been wonderful. Although I had projects to finish with Chris and for TG none of that demanded my having to be away so I got time to sit in the garden and enjoy the company of our resident birds, bees, hedgehogs and other creatures great & small. Simple pleasures after such a busy 6 months.

Our Feral Vapours film has been held up again because of all the other unexpected events and interesting projects that demanded our attention but we're determined to immerse ourselves again next month when we return to filming once more. That's what's exciting me most at the moment. It will be released in its own good time.

I've been thrilled at the great reception of COH PLAYS COSEY and I'll be beginning work on the sister album COSEY PLAYS COH later this year.

The TG & Cerith Wyn Evans audio sculpture collaboration: 'A=p=p=a=r=i=t=i=o=n' is now complete and has far exceeded all our expectations. It's being shipped to Japan for the Yokohama 2008 Triennale which opens on 13th September. It's very difficult to explain the wonderful experience so here's a little info:

It seems like September is time when things kick off again as then I'm back in the studio recording with Chris, doing a remix for Excepter and then working on contributing some vocals for our friend Terry's new album. Then I'll also be returning to working on my new Art edition of photographic sets of prints. I'm sure I've forgotten something along the way but suffice to say there's much fun ahead!

Signing off till later,

Calm and sunshine...

Well I finally feel like I've re connected with my self after all the flurry of TG activities.
The intensity of creative flow and physical demands have been a real challenge but I must say that Sleazy's stay here in our home was an utter pleasure. Things cranked up several notches the few weeks prior to the Tate when the TG machine seemed to have a life of its own driving us forward with relentless momentum. Hence the exhilarating feelings I felt for the Tate and ICA events which were already so much a part of me. Presenting our work to the welcoming arms of those who attended felt so right. So I must thank you all for embracing all that we brought to you.

I'm catching up on my solo and Carter Tutti projects - now starting with a 7" cover version, preparing for another exhibition, continuing my project with COH and generally mooching around wandering into the garden to pick those ripening juicy strawberries.

Happy and calm.............

Exciting and enthralling...

We've had a really intense month of recording to finish our new CARTER TUTTI album (Feral Vapours Of the Silver Ether) which has been inspiring, exciting and enthralling. It's felt wonderful to be at full creative thrust totally immersed in our own material. Just the final mastering and tweaks now!

I'm off to Los Angeles tomorrow to install my work in the MOCA exhibition WACK! and to stay with friends relaxing and enjoying their warmth and treasured company.

Time escapes me...

It’s been so long since I posted news on what’s been happening but time escaped me as I rushed from project to project and then caught up on sleep. The events of the past year have really challenged me in many ways and I’m thankful. Geff’s empty space still flickers with a peaceful energy. Life continues to deliver surprises and makes me feel that as I grow I begin to question more, rather than less. Knowledge and experience seem to create a need for more of the same which is both a joy and a curse. Life is sweet and I feel like I could burst with the utter ecstacy of it at times.
January and February were taken up with preparations for our CARTER TUTTI concert for M.O.C.A in Los Angeles. The concert was wonderful, so many thanks to everyone who was present and shared such a special time with us. I’m excitedly working on a show for the Van Abbe Museum, Eindhoven which will open on May 7th. Collating all the material is intense but I’m relishing it.

After this I’ll be presenting (for one night only) ‘Selflessness 2’ at TRACE Gallery in Cardiff which will be the first time any of these series of art actions has been seen.

I’m rubbing my hands with glee at the thought of beginning a new CARTER TUTTI album in the summer. More diary news after this I suspect. But don’t hold me to it.

All details on projects mentioned can be found on the news page.

Fulfilling yet frustrating...

So far this year has already been very fulfilling (and sometimes frustrating) in so many ways. New sound equipment purchases have triggered new ideas for fothcoming releases and I’m continuing work on my ‘Selflessness’ action project which will be completed this year. Many more thrilling things in the pipeline but I’ll reveal more about those later.

A significant year...

At last there's time to sit and catch up with myself. I can't remember all that happened in 2002 but I must say I really enjoyed the rest that Xmas gave us.
Last year was significant for me in many ways not least for the fact that it saw my return to art actions. Sometimes things just fall into place and you don't even notice. That's what happened with and what was so wonderful about my two art actions at Disneyland and Beachy Head. I've been working on their documentation and will continue with two further actions in 2003 that will complete my 'Selflessness' project.
The TG24 project dominated much of last year but the end result has been more than worth the work and time it demanded. It's also been a strange year as far as looking back like this is concerned but TG being so long ago meant I found I had a refreshingly different perception of it all.
Chris and I had a really great time playing our concert in Antwerp in November. It was one of those moments when time seems to just fly past because you are so engrossed in the act of creating. It felt so right and flowed so well that when it ended it I felt I'd been awoken from a dream. And now I'm itching to get in the studio again and work on a new CTI album, my new EAR 4 CD, collaborations and video. Oh yes, compiling our Antwerp video really got us both excited about working with visuals again so expect to see some new material in 2003.
More later...

Selflessness...

Our wonderful holiday in Los Angeles was a welcome break after a busy start to 2002 and also as a re-energiser prior to beginning our next projects. The first of the 'SELFLESSNESS' live art actions took place in Disneyland on the 2nd May with the assistance of Chris Carter, Skot Armstrong and Russell Dorward. I have been working on the documentation and presentation in between all else that I have in progress.
The second 'SELFLESSNESS' live art action took place on Beachy Head at approximately 6am on the 12th July. Only myself and Chris were present for this funerary art action, in the stillness and tranquility that only dawn brings. This special action was well documented.
Thankfully the TG/Industrial re launch releases are nearing completion, we can almost see the light at the end of the tunnel now.
I'm also currently working on an ongoing and very enjoyable collaboration with Chris Carter of a photographic work in progress. So far we have given it the working title of 'Room Service'.
The representation of my 1970's sex magazine 'CONFESSIONS' is now finalised. There will be a hard back deluxe numbered and very limited edition, and also a soft cover edition. I will be posting information on when and where it will be available in the coming months. We are comsidering offering a subscription service for obtaining this book. For serious enquiries regarding the deluxe hard back edition please contact: CABINET.
I recently attended the wonderful 'Artist/Model' exhibition at the I.C.A. with photographic works by Fergus Greer of Leigh Bowery and Richard Kern's photographs of girls. The focus of the exhibition was the exploration of the complex relationship between the artist and model. I took part in a panel discussion with Richard Kern, Lucy McKenzie (artist and occasional Kern model), Geoff Nicholson (writer) and I.C.A. director and curator Matthew Higgs. The talk was both interesting and revealing in terms of how the artist regards the model in relationship to the work of art that is being jointly created and particularly with my own work in the 1970's in which I was both artist and model. I'm also very excited about a new collaboration with Lucy Mckenzie, which we will be working on later this year.

Back to recording soon with diversions into collating the live action works in preparation for presentation. My new CD EAR 4, the next in the continuing Electronic Ambient Remix series is set (optimistically) for release late this year or early 2003. Check out my events and actions pages to catch up on what has been happening alongside everything else already mentioned.

Frantically busy...

I've had a frantically busy year so far which has left no time to actually tell anyone about what has been going on. Hopefully people have been catching up via the Chris & Cosey site and Chris' bits of news. We have just finished two collaborative tracks with Mortal Loom and have two more collaborations scheduled for this year. After these we will be concentrating on recording two new albums and EAR4. In between we'll be working on the TG/Industrial Records relaunch - a not unsubstantial project in itself.

I have been working on a re-presentation of one of my (many) 1970's sex magazines and have yet to decide on the final format this will take. It is very near completion.

In May I begin my 'Selflessness' live art series with the first action taking place in Los Angeles. When all the actions have been completed and taken 'form' they will be presented for public viewing.
